The individual asked me how did I get into government contracting and could I help them.
My purpose in life, for as long as I could remember, was to help people. I thought being a doctor, for some reason, I wanted to deliver babies. I thought bringing babies (life) into the world was so cool. I was seven years old when I had that interest….my interests, passions, and desires have changed over the years, but I am birthing a business.
Ahhh, the best decision I ever made was falling into business! I began my career wanting to save the world, so I started my career in the non-profit social services sector; working in social services helped strengthen my faith in humanity, and we are ALL flawed. Understanding people more and more drove me to want to help people even more while dealing with my flaws and life challenges.
Life has continued to support me in my mission of "helping" people. However, I've reframed this original longing into "an emotionally intelligent small business owner." Some of you are familiar with my "work" in the construction industry, which I fell into because I am the proud daughter of a carpenter. My dad turned his passion for building into business 30 years ago; now, he is passing down to me what he has learned in business, construction, and contracting. I always admired people who had the guts and courage to start and run their own business, and I knew business ownership was in my blood.
You see, the biggest lesson I've learned in these last 40 years on this Earth is that I do not have to be just one thing or fit in a box. Life is ever-evolving and ever-changing; we have seasons, changes, and growth. I can be anything and all the things I desire. Shout out to my dad for ingraining faith in me and that I do all things through Christ who strengthens me. After all these years, I soulfully believe this to be true.
Now, I am slowly beginning to see why I took training, read many books, and listened to many podcasts; it was all in preparation for this very moment. I am so proud of myself for completing this e-course. A lot of what you'll find in this e-course is the basics of having your city, state, and the federal government your customer. I want you to WIN!
